NexGen Academy provides a full time Assessment placements for pupils in Year 10 – 11 in the Borough of Merseyside who are permanently excluded from mainstream schools. Alongside this, a pre-exclusion facility is offered to young people arriving in the Borough with no identified mainstream school who have been identified as being likely to benefit from the setting.
NexGen Academy also works with mainstream schools and the LA in supporting pupils at risk of exclusion” The service provides an alternative curriculum programme for pupils of statutory school age in KS4 who are excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools for a variety of reasons. We offer Full-Time and Part-Time placements at the present time the centre is based in Dovecot MAC, Back of Dovecot Place, Liverpool, L14 9BA.

We monitor attendance of all pupils rigorously. It is our expectation that pupils attend 100%.
Any absence should only be the result of illness or a hospital appointment. We run a first day response to following up any absences from school.
NexGen Academy is a school whose aim is to help pupils modify their behaviour to enable them to be successful learners and become young adults able to cope with the demands of life, and contribute well to the community they live in.

NexGen Academy is committed to ensuring that all students receive the best possible education in a safe, comfortable and enjoyable environment. We are keen to respond quickly to any problems and to remedy any issues as soon as possible. This policy and procedure applies in respect of all complaints made against the school, except in respect of child protection allegations where the safeguarding policy and procedures apply. Parents/carers can be assured that all complaints and expressions of concern, whether raised informally or formally, will be treated seriously and confidentially. An effective complaints policy and procedure can diffuse problems and can also provide the schools with helpful information. Complaints treated as constructive suggestions can be used to improve standards and may prevent cause for further complaints

NexGen Academy School recognises our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We maintain an attitude of “it could happen here” where safeguarding is concerned. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children and young people receive effective support, protection and justice. The procedures contained in this policy apply to all staff, volunteers and governors and inform parents/carers how we will safeguard their children whilst they are in our care.

AS A STUDENT:
I WILL RESPECT myself and others in/out of school, as I expect from others, including respect for property as I would want from others.
I WILL keep all the areas of school clean, tidy and safe for all of us to work in. I will help in keeping the school neat and tidy.
I WILL to have a positive, pleasant, polite attitude and approach to all that I do at school; completing all my work to the best of my ability so that I can achieve the success that I deserve.
I WILL ALWAYS look well presented in my school uniform and give a good first impression to visitors.
I WILL walk safely around school to prevent any accidents and be punctual to school and each of my lessons.
I WILL REMEMBER that I am not the only person in my class and that my teaching staff may have to talk to other members of my class before me.
I WILL wait patiently and not interrupt other people from talking;
I WILL not be rude or selfish.
